H Folks,
Recently there were some questions regarding chart availabiliity.
I have just heard from my boat buddy in Nanaimo, which for those of you not familiar with the area is the best "jumping off" spot for Desolation Sound. Here is what he has to say:
There are several places to purchase charts in Nanaimo... Harbour Chandlers
is handy if you need to pick up parts or other goodies and is easily reached
by foot from the Nanaimo City Harbour... downtown, and also an easy walk
from the Harbour, is Nanaimo Maps and Charts on Church Street, a very good
bookstore with an excellent collection of nautical titles... at the north
end of Stuart Channel, close to Stones Marina where I keep Carmana (and
Muddy Waters pub, where there is free short time moorage for patrons--beware
of shallows next to the pub at low tide) is Skippers Marine, which also
carries charts... Skippers rents moped which would be a fun way to cruise
around the town....
Cheers
