We started the Northwest Boating Network with one goal. To create an online community of Northwest Boaters -- A place where we could ask questions, get answers, brag, and share our experience and knowledge of boating in the Northwest and British Columbia.

Since that time, we have continued to add features we think are valuable to the Northwest Boating Community; features such as the Discussion Forums, Events Calendar, Photo Gallery, Tides, Classified Ads, and most recently, Weather and Product Reviews. We are proud of these features and believe this site has more to offer boaters than any other website -- anywhere.

Unfortunately, we have not achieved what we'd hoped for - a site with active participation from many boaters who are as passionate about boating in the Northwest as we are. While we get quite a few visitors each day, there is very little new activity. With little new content, there is not much to hold visitors interest or attract new members. The value of the site is directly related to the level of participation from our members. I should point out that there are members who have contributed greatly to the site and for that we are grateful - we hope it's been worth your while.

We are now at the point where we must consider the practicality of continuing with our efforts. The upkeep and continued operation of the Northwest Boating Network requires a fair amount of time and some expense.

Over the next few weeks, we will be evaluating site traffic and activity. Our evaluation will determine whether to keep the site going or shut it down. A final decision will be made at the end of November.

I have posted several polls that will help us decide what to do. If you would like to express your opinion, please respond to the polls and/or post to the forums. If you would prefer, you may contact me directly at rusty@nwboating.net.

Thanks,
Rusty
