This promises to be a great event.
I just noticed that Two friends boats are going to be on display
Kia Ora A schooner out of Oak Harbor and Petra a ketch which calls Tacoma home port.

We come up to Olympia every 4th of July weekend/week and this is definitely an event I'm hoping to make. I just missed being able to go aboard the Lady Washington at last years Harbor Days festival in Olympia, she had just pulled out from the dock for an evening cruise when we got down to that part of the event. Still I did get several good pictures of her from the water. (posted one of them here) I hope to actually make it aboard for a tour this time.
For those with the cash, they are even offering outing aboard the tall ships, including one to watch the fireworks from out on the water. (too spendy for my family, we'll just be happy to look aboard.)

I understand that they are looking for people to help out. I was thinking of doing it myself.

Click on their volunteers link on their web page that I listed above. And yes they are going to need a lot of help. this is going to be a huge event. I live too far away to be able to help on that level but will spend spend quite a bit of time with one of my friends boats and help in that aspect.

I just came from an orientation for volunteers. They do need help. They would like to have at least 2000 volunteers. There is a parade of ships on the 30th from Quartermaster Harbor to Thea Foss Waterway. You can sign up your boat to be in the parade. Tommy's Bug will be there. If you are there and see us, let us know.
